Summary Of The Book:

The year is 1943and 10 year old Annemarie Johansen, her best friend Ellen Rosen, and the Johansens are living a rough life in Copenhagen. With food shortages and the trouble of the Nazi soldiers the Rosens, a Jewish family, decide it is no longer safe to be in Copenhagen, let alone live in Copenhagen. Once the Nazi soldiers took a list of Jewish people away to be "relocated" the Johansens decided to help the Rosens go into hiding. With the help of Uncle Hendrik, the plan to help keep the Rosens safe has begun. This book is a race against time and the Nazi soldiers. Without Annemarie's help, bad things could happen to the Rosens. Will they make it safely to Sweden? Will Annemarie ever see Ellen again? This book really explains what it was like to be a child during this time. It is a book that is hard to forget and really helps you understand the hardships of the Holocaust.
